Construction’s Next Technology Shift Starts in the Back Office

Our work on TRIST AI explores how AI-assisted workflows can reduce administrative friction for construction operators.

The work between the job sites

Construction companies are judged by the work they complete in the field. Yet a large share of their day is spent elsewhere: sorting email, following up with general contractors, tracking invoices, updating job information and reconciling documents. The cost of this fragmentation is not always visible on a project plan.

We see a practical opportunity to bring those tasks into a more coherent operating environment. Not by asking construction teams to abandon established tools overnight, but by helping information move between the systems they already depend on.

What we are designing with TRIST AI

TRIST AI is a product initiative focused on the construction back office. The direction includes email triage, bid and job tracking, billing workflows, supplier documentation and natural-language assistance. Integration work involving services such as Outlook and QuickBooks is part of the product development agenda; capabilities should be presented according to their actual readiness.

The goal is not to replace project managers or accountants. It is to give them a clearer view of what needs attention, what has changed and which decisions still require a person. Good automation should make accountability easier, not obscure it.

A vertical approach to AI

We believe useful AI products will increasingly be judged by industry context: terminology, approvals, documentation and the consequences of errors. Construction offers a strong test of that principle because the work crosses many teams and deadlines.

Our commitment is to keep learning directly from operators and to build around real administrative pain. The most convincing demonstration of AI is not a futuristic interface; it is a workday with fewer missed details.
